This Sneaky Mindset Habit Is Keeping You Stuck
You’re not overthinking because you’re careful. You’re overthinking because you’re scared.
You know what’s wild?
So many people stay stuck in lives they hate because they’re scared of what someone else might say if they try to change it.
They don’t start the business.
Don’t post the thing.
Don’t take the leap.
Not because they’re not capable, but because of judgment from people who haven’t done a damn thing.
They try to fit in into their world. Into the life they think is the right one to have.
But that girl from high school isn’t paying your rent.
Your old coworker with the passive-aggressive comments isn’t building your business.
And your uncle who still doesn’t understand the internet is not your target audience.
So why are you letting them have a vote in your future?
When I first started freelancing, I didn’t tell anyone for weeks.
I was so scared someone would laugh at me.
That they’d think I was delusional.
That they’d talk behind my back like, “omg did you see Vivian is trying to start some online thing now?”
Spoiler: they probably did. And you know what? I lived.
I got to (and still do) work from my laptop, quit my job, travel when I want, and make more than I ever did in my 9–5.
When I first started posting content and creating my digital products, I blocked everyone I knew.
Friends. Coworkers. My entire family (except for a very small circle of people I trusted)
Not because I was ashamed, but because I needed room to grow without feeling like I was being watched by people who didn’t get it.
I needed space to build something real without the weight of other people’s opinions on every post. To experiment and try something new.
And that space gave me momentum.
I was able to do exactly what I wanted without the nagging sensation that someone I knew was talking about it
Even though they did eventually find my stuff and started talking about it lol
But by then, I was published in Business Insider (twice!), grown my social media to over 100,000 followers, had hundreds of students in my courses, taking luxury spa trips in the middle of the week, and bringing in $20K-$40K a month.
So… I didn't care :)
Here’s the truth no one talks about:
The people who judge you aren’t the ones you’re building this for.
You’re doing this for:
– The future version of you who doesn’t dread Mondays
– The person who needs to see it’s possible
– The life you want to live, not just survive
– The community you’re going to impact when you show up fully
Not for the randoms on your feed who think it’s weird you’re posting more.
You don’t need approval. You need action.
Because one day, those same people who rolled their eyes and talked behind your back, they’ll ask how you did it.
(trust me, it’s happened to me more times than I can count)
